| What is an Endodontist? |
| An endodontist is a dentist who has had advanced training after completing dental school. This training is usually two years of clinical and academic studies. Research and a thesis may also be part of university based programs. My endodontic training was completed at The Ohio State University. I received a Masters of Science degree. My research was comparing various local anesthetics in the human mandibular arch and is published in the Journal of the American Association of Endodontists. To be an endodontist in Missouri, a dentist must first pass the Missouri Dental Board examination for general dentists and then pass a Missouri Dental Board specialty examination. After passing these examinations, the dentist is allowed to limit his practice to saving teeth though endodontic therapy. |
